Cheers, England!

sennen-cove2-post

Once again, I am saying goodbye to a country that far exceeded any and all of my expectations. As I head north to the wilds of Scotland, I wanted to share my favorite things (to do and eat) about Britain.

Top 5 Favorite Things about England:

  1. The food. Period. You know you have hit rock bottom when you have to call Uber because you are too full to waddle your way home (this was not an isolated incident). Pasties, pies, ice cream, and curry…I ate it all and with abandon.
  2. The magical beauty of Cornwall. I cannot say enough about the unbelievable landscapes of this area of England. Absolutely enchanting.
  3. England’s history. Obviously, a country as old as England has some stories to tell and some are a little more gruesome than others (the style of execution through the years is stomach churning and the monarchy could often be cutthroat…literally). Good or bad, England is proud of their land and those who helped shape it and certainly treasure that history for future generations.
  4. How the English love their dogs. Similar to their neighbors across the pond in Ireland, the English adore their dogs and take them everywhere. I sat next to dogs at pubs, on the subway, and having tea. Dogs are welcomed and encouraged everywhere and I am a huge fan of this philosophy.
  5. The walks. England is a country made for walking and that is just what I did. The National Trust does an incredible job of marking walking paths all over England and they are incredible. As someone currently living in a city where you do not do anything without a car, I loved not only the encouragement to walk, but also attention paid to making the walk enjoyable.

The landscape in England makes it virtually impossible to take a bad photo. Cheers to England for providing me with countless memories and photos to hold me over until we meet again.
